There Is a Target on Your Back

Daniel 6:1-28

What is our job when we dwell in a hostile environment? Not only is our political world hostile right now, but also our workplace or home could be a hostile environment. How does the Christian respond in such a difficult spot? The answer that we remember is that faithfulness is not a moment in life but a long journey. What is our job? Faithfulness; Integrity; the Fruit of the Spirit.

Not of This World: Daniel

There Is a Target on Your Back

Daniel 6

"It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protections and favors."  - George Washington

When there is a target on your back...

(1) Remember, in this world there will be TROUBLE.

(See Daniel 6:1-9)

Proverbs 16:18, "Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall."

Galatians 6:7-8, "Do not be deceived;  God cannot be mocked.  A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."

(2) Remain faithful in your WALK.

(See Daniel 6:10-12, 14)

Notice the phrases:

  • knelt down as usual...with windows open...giving thanks

Philippians 4:6-7, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need and thank him for all He has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."

(3) Resolve to TRUST the King.

(See Daniel 6:16-20, 26)

Proverbs 21:1, "The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord, he guides it wherever he pleases."

v26, "I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the God of Daniel. For he is the living God, and he will endure forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed and his rule will never end!"

The Lord's Supper:

1 Corinthians 11:28, "Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup."
