The Biblical Responsibilities of a Warrior Parent
Psalms 127:3-5
In this passage, the role of parenting is described as a warrior. Why? Because we are in a war as parents for the souls of our children. Why are arrows the weapon? Arrows extend the reach of the warrior; every other weapon required you to be close. Your children are going to carry on your reach and your impact after you are gone. Your kids have the ability to go where you cannot go and do what you cannot do.
Arrows
The Biblical Responsibilities of a Warrior Parent
Psalm 127:3-5
Three biblical responsibilities a warrior has in order to prepare their arrows:
1. A warrior parent is responsible to SHAPE the arrow.
Proverbs 22:6, "Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it."
2. A warrior parent is responsible to SHARPEN the arrow.
To sharpen anything something must always be removed.
Hebrews 12:11, "No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening - it's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way."
The balance: Deep Relationships and High Expectations
3. A warrior parent is responsible to SHOOT the arrows.
Psalm 127:4, "Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior's hands."
