Pardon the Interruption

Not My Agenda

Luke 1:26-35

Wow! This was not the wedding they had planned. It was not the "BIG Day" Mary had dreamed of since being a child. No matter her wedding scrapbook collection or Bride magazine pile - this wasn't the wedding of her dreams. And no doubt, this was NOT what Joseph had envisioned. He just knew - she was the one of his dreams. The wedding was just the beginning of all his dreams. And...this wasn't the agenda they had quietly talked about and planned in the weeks before this. This was a HUGE interruption.  What do you do when your plans fall through or fail? How do you hold your plans with open hands?

Pardon the Interruption

Not My Agenda

Luke 1:26-35, Matthew 1:18-21

When your itinerary is interrupted, remember:

1. If I value comfort over obedience, I will miss the will of God.

"You can never learn that Christ is all you need, until Christ is all you have." - Carrie Ten Boom

2. This is not my plan, but I will trust God.

Proverbs 16:9, "We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps."

Proverbs 19:21, "You can make many plans, but the LORD's purpose will prevail."

3. The interruptions have a purpose.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18, "For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever."
