In Training ... for the Life to Come
“Get with God”
Luke 11:1-4; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19
#1 Question of Believers:
“How do I cultivate an effective prayer life?”
- PRAY TOGETHER
Luke 11:1, “...as he finished...”
Luke 5:16: “But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.”
John 11:41-42: “Father thank you for hearing Me. You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent Me.”
Key Prayer Principle:Prayer begins in the heart that longs for a life of prayer.
- GET IT TOGETHER WHEN YOU PRAY
Luke 11:2, “Jesus said, ‘This is how you should pray...”
James 4:3 (NKJV), “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on YOUR pleasures.” (NLT; “because your motives are all wrong”.) Romans 8:26 (NLT): “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we don’t even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray...”
So, how do we pray?
Begin with WHO?
Luke 11:2b, “...Father...”
Move to WHAT?
Provision
Pardon
Protection
Persistence
- KEEP IT TOGETHER THROUGH PRAYER
See 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19
v17, “Never stop praying.”
Key Prayer Principle:The Heart of Prayer is better caught than taught.
Final Thought: If you are going to spend eternity in the Father’s House, you need to get on speaking terms.
