The Outpouring

How Big Is Your Vision?

1 Kings 17:7-16

Our text is the story of the widow of Zarephath who was told to pour out her flour and oil for the prophet of God, and God would restore and preserve her because of her obedience. Her vision was so limited - "I'm going to make my last meal and then me and my son will die." God has so much more! It is our focus that often limits our vision.

The Outpouring

How Big Is Your Vision?

1 Kings 17:7-16; Ephesians 3:20-21

"The single biggest problem in communication

is the illusion that it has taken place."

"I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the rest...

[because she] has given everything she has."

Experience The Outpouring:

(1) Begin where you are

See v6 and James 5:17

Jesus on money:

"No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

"Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."

Get this truth: Generosity requires a beginning.

Proverbs 3:9-10, "Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine."

(2) Move as God leads you

Zarephath

Psalm 66:10, 12, "You have tested us, O God; you have purified us like silver...We went through fire and flood, but you brough us to a place of great abundance."

(3) Embrace the risks of faith; reject the limits of fear

see v13-14

Romans 15:4, "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us"

Hebrews 12:6, "Without faith, it is impossible to please God."

(4) Trust God's provision

Ephesians 3:20-21, "Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen."
