Going Through the Motions with My Stuff
Give Generously
Mark 4:13-20
These two teachings of Jesus set up the tension. There are two ways to live. We can hold and keep, or we can release and give. And as contrary as it may sound - in this kingdom, the blessing comes to those who choose to live generously. Malachi declared it (Malachi 3:8-12). Jesus taught it (Luke 6:38). Paul affirmed it (2 Corinthians 9:11-13). It all begins with a generous heart.
Going Through the Motions with My Stuff
Give Generously
Mark 4:13-20
Three ways that greed can cause us to be fruitless:
1. The Worries of this Life
Anthem: I refuse to worry, God values me, and He has in abundance all I need.
2. The Lure of Wealth
Anthem: I won't waste my life. Instead of chasing what is fleeting, I'm going after what is eternal.
3. The Desire for Other Things
Anthem: I need you God. Replace my desire for other things with a desire to bear fruit for You.
The cure for greed is Biblical Generosity.
1. Biblical Generosity is tithing.
2. Biblical Generosity is giving with no honor or recognition.
3. Biblical Generosity is a them first mentality.
Final Thought: Generosity and greed cannot co-exist with one another.
