Not of This World: Daniel
Calming Presence in the Chaos
Daniel 2:1-49
What is a man? Who is this man, Daniel? We have lots of ideas about manhood. King Nebuchadnezzar is one kind - demanding, demeaning, dictating. We've all had people like that in our lives, and those are the kinds of people who create chaos in our lives. We all will face crazy moments in life. What the kins is asking is not only impossible, but insane! The entire chapter revolves around v31, "... a huge, shining statue of a man..." Although we may struggle to define "manhood," and we may struggle with our own image of "manhood," God is the one who can reveal the mystery. What does Daniel do? How does a real man respond to the chaos of this world?
