Begin on the Inside: Practice Solitude and Prayer

Luke 5:16

Sometimes we need silence to think. There is so much noise in our lives - people, thoughts in our heads, notifications from our phones, etc.  Sometimes we just need to be still.  How can we ever know God if we are never still (Psalm 46:10)? So, pick a time/place. Prioritize it. If Jesus could, surely you can.  And then begin. Fail at it over and over again. And then, you know what to do? You try again!

Begin on the Inside: Practice Solitude and Prayer

Luke 5:16, 6:12, 9:18, 9:28, 11:1

How do we follow Jesus in Solitude and Prayer?

1. Keep it simple.

Start here: Pick a place and pick a time.

Psalm 46:10a, “Be still, and know that I am God!”

2. Keep it real.

Then this: Pray what you got.

3. Keep it up.

Matthew 7:7-8, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

When you pray...

First - prayer changes things.

Secondly - prayer changes you.
