David was probably the best king Israel ever had, but he wasn't perfect.  He was God's choice; he was a man after God's own heart, and he still leaves us feeling disappointed.  All human leadership leaves us wanting and longing for more because our true King is Jesus Christ!

Look for evidence of character (Psalm 27:4)

Look to proven competence (1 Chronicles 29:10-12)

Look forward to days to come (Psalm 143:10)

Look up with prayerful confidence (Psalm 36:5)
