The Wonder of Worship

Luke 2:8-20

When Worship Wows…

Worship is Rhythm; it is a DANCE with the DIVINE

Psalm 22:3 says, “Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.”

Worship begins with God’s personal REVELATION

The God who comes to us.

v8, “That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them…”

The God who brings Joy!

v10, “the angel reassured them. ‘Don’t be afraid!’ he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”

Psalm 100:2, “Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy.”

The God who Saves

v11, “The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!”

Worship is our Response to the Revealed God

See Luke 2:15-17

Romans 12:1, “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”

Worship is GIVING.

Final Thought: Worship is the rhythm of revelation and response so that every man, woman, and child might know Jesus.

Christmas is a season filled with wonder. From the focus and response of children on Christmas morning to the miracle of the birth of Christ, including the responses of the "characters" of the Christmas story-- in a word, it is simply WONDER!  The wonder for "wonder-sake" but ultimately Wonder that points to God.
