One of the richest blessings in life is the divine gift of relationship. Remember, we are created in God's image.  God is the triune God - there is perfect unity and fellowship in God. Jesus tells us that he and the Father are one.  He and the Spirit are the same.  We are created in that image.  One of the sweetest blessings in your life are the people of your life.  And, YES, they can also be the biggest pain in your life.  But if Jesus could be grateful for that rag-tag bunch of disciples - can't we be thankful for the imperfect people in our life? If Jesus would be thankful for you and me - is there anyone who is too far removed that we cannot find some means of being grateful for them?

During the rush of this hurried season we are entering, be sure to remember the gift of relationship. Remember the treasure of friends. Be grateful for the people God has placed in your life. They may be imperfect, but then again - so are you. Be thankful. Just like Jesus.

Thankful for Friends

John 15:9-17

There are four things to know about being a friend of Jesus

• Jesus loves you. (John 15:9-11)
  • Jesus wants you to remain in him.
  • Jesus and the Father are one. (John  10:30)
• Jesus commands you to be a friend to others (John 15:12-13)
  • Loving others with agape love. (John 3:16)
  • Loving others requires sacrifice. (Romans 12:1)
• Jesus no longer calls you a servant but He calls you friend. (John 15:14-15)
  • Obedience is the key to remaining in Jesus' love and friendship.
  • A friendship with Jesus leads to closeness with the Father. (John 15:15)
• Jesus chose you to be his friend. (John 15:16-17)
  • When Jesus chose the disciples, he was thinking of you.
  • Jesus chose you to produce lasting fruit.

If Jesus chose to be a friend of sinners, then we should go and be a friend to others.
