Marriage for Dummies: Love

Ephesians 5:25-33

Marriage in Three Words:

MUTUALITY     LOVE     RESPECT

Digging into the Text:

(Mutuality in Marriage: See Ephesians 5:21, 1 Peter 3:7, Galatians 3:28, 1 Corinthians 4:4)

“… for a husband is the head of his wife…”

Head = RESPONSIBLE FOR HER

“… for husbands, this means love your wives…”

Love = AGAPE —_WILL, CHOICE, SACRIFICE

Living out the Text:

TREASURE her (see 1 Peter 3:7, Song of Solomon 2:4)

KNOW her (see 1 Peter 3:7, Proverbs 5:18)

LISTEN to her (see James 1:19, Proverbs 1:5)

CONFESS to her (see Colossians 3:19, Malachi 2:16)

SERVE her (see Ephesians 5:25b)

Final Thought:

HUSBANDS, the highest calling upon your life in Christ as it relates to your family—is to LOVE YOUR WIFE. You are responsible to love HER well, just as Christ has loved you.
