Forgiveness: the hardest thing you’ll ever do- Forget it

Hebrews 12:15

Forgiveness: the hardest thing you’ll ever do

Forget it

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
- Hebrews 12:15

How do you move past bitterness and resentment?

Take Hold of it

“Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up…”

Our Response: We hurt.

Proverbs 14:10, Each heart knows its own bitterness…”

Remove it

“Work at living in peace with everyone.”

Our Response: We hate.

Romans 12:18, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.”

Ephesians 4:31, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.

Do something with it

“Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you…”

Psalm 34:18, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues
those whose spirits are crushed.”

Our Response: We hope.

Do something with it together

“…look after each other”.

James 5:16, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

Our Response: We heal.

Final Thought: Forgiveness is love’s daring response whereby I begin the process of taking hold of my hurt and walking toward healing.
